Transition

I'm unemployed. After ten years at National Instruments, I've resigned to pursue a new career. Working at NI has been amazing and I loved it. For a while, I've been considering becoming a high school physics teacher. I finally decided that there is never a good time to leave a place like NI and I just needed to take the plunge; so, today was my last day.

I've been accepted to National-Louis University's Masters of Arts in Teaching program. I will be taking educational classes this fall and winter. Next spring, I will student teach at which point I will earn my secondary science teaching certificate with endorsements for physics and computer science. Hopefully, next fall I will be in a classroom. Ideally, I'll also complete my Masters of Arts in Teaching by next fall. This requires four additional classes; two of which I'm taking between the this fall and winter terms.

To keep my software skills sharp and to help pay for tuition, I'm starting my own software company focusing on independent development of Mac OS X consumer applications as well as consulting and contract work. More on this later.
